What is Crystalline Silica?

Crystalline Silica is a common mineral found in the earth’s crust. Silica is commonly found on construction sites and in several natural materials such as sand, stone, concrete, mortar, and landscaping materials.

The dust is created by cutting, grinding, or drilling the common materials that contain the particles. These particles are tiny and can be very dangerous to the health of workers who may inhale it.

Crystalline Silica can increase the risk of developing serious diseases, including:
• Silicosis
• Lung Cancer
• Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease
• Kidney Disease

Dry Sweeping

Our PowerBoss HEPA rider sweepers contain dust filters that are 99% efficient to 0.3 microns to comply with OSHA.

Here are the five stages of maximum dust control dry sweeping filtration:

  1. Vacuumized main broom chamber
  2. Perma Pre-Filter
  3. (Pleated Filter) 95% to 98% efficient from 2.0 – 5.0 micron
  4. Aggressive Filter Vibration System
  5. (HEPA) 95% to 99% efficient from 30 – 1 micron

Water Flooding

In case dry sweeping isn’t a viable option, water flooding is another method to sweeping Crystalline Silica. Water flooding contains the dust in the floor scrubber’s water and is immediately sucked up through the recovery squeegee and vacuum.

PowerBoss Nautilus

The Nautilus is the ideal machine that delivers excellent water flooding results in regards to Crystalline Silica. Its large water capacity means prolonged runtime, so you can spend more time cleaning then refilling.
